PETALING JAYA: Malaysia failed to qualify for the semifinals of the Asean Cup 2024 after a goalless draw with Singapore at the Bukit Jalil stadium tonight.
In what was billed as a “do or die” match for Harimau Malaya, the stalemate put Singapore through to the semifinals, after they secured the second spot in Group A.
Malaysia finished third in the group after managing only five points with one win and two draws. Their only victory was against Timor-Leste, who they beat 3-2.
In last year’s edition of the tournament, Harimau Malaya mauled the Lions 4-1 to reach the last four.
Thailand beat Cambodia 3-2 in the other Group A match to top the group after winning all four matches.
