In a post on its official Instagram account, the embassy advised travellers to verify the credibility of travel agencies before making any booking.
“Be wary of travel agencies offering tour packages at very low prices,” it said.
The embassy recommended checking the official list of registered travel agencies via the tourism, arts and culture ministry website to ensure safe and reliable arrangements.
“Booking through a registered travel agency can minimise risks and help ensure a smooth travel experience,” it added.
The embassy also said it was important to obtain payment receipts and related documents for all transactions with travel agencies.
The advisory follows recent complaints by netizens about unsatisfactory services from travel agencies operated by social media influencers in South Korea.
Reported issues included delayed flight ticket issuance and last-minute changes to accommodation.
Bukit Aman commercial crime investigation department director Ramli Yoosuf said no official reports had been lodged so far but encouraged affected individuals to come forward.
