Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said 98 cases were being probed by the criminal investigation department – one under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 and the remainder under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
He said police had completed 63 probes with charges brought in 22 cases, Harian Metro reported. A total of 41 cases were classified as “no further action”.
“The remaining 40 investigation papers are still with the investigating officer and deputy public prosecutor,” he said.
Razarudin said 416 individuals were nabbed in the Op Global sting: 189 men and 227 women. The majority of those arrested were aged 18 and above.
He said of the 416, 43 had been charged with various offences, two had been handed over to the immigration department to be deported, and another two had been handed over to the Kedah Islamic authorities.
GISBH made headlines two months ago after the police raided welfare homes linked to the company and rescued 402 children, some of whom were allegedly sodomised and coached to sexually assault others.
GISBH subsequently denied operating the welfare homes in question and rejected claims that children under its care had been sodomised or forced to sexually assault others.
However, its CEO Nasiruddin Ali later admitted that cases of sodomy had occurred within the organisation.
Six states have since declared GISBH’s teachings and practices deviant.
