KUALA LUMPUR:
Police are conducting an internal investigation after a woman alleged that obscene gestures were made towards her by a member of the police force during a protest in the capital on Friday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said the police officer is currently serving in the Kuala Lumpur area. “The investigation has begun even though police have not received any report in relation to the incident,” he said today.

The investigation came after an Instagram post by a woman who alleged that the police officer made lewd gestures towards her while she was taking photographs at a human rights protest here.

The woman said the gesture was repeated several times by the police officer to ensure it could be seen.
