Anwar confirmed that a resolution had been reached, with both sides agreeing on general “principles”.
“I have had a good session with the (Sarawak) premier, Abang Johari (Openg). Clear decisions … We are working on the details, parameters, and legal implications.
“Yes, of course, (the discussion) is settled, but we are working on the details,” he told reporters after launching the National AI Office here today.
Anwar’s statement came a day after Abang Johari revealed that a solution had been reached regarding the long-standing dispute between Sarawak and Petronas over O&G rights in the state.
Over the past year, Sarawak has pressed hard for Petronas to ink a deal that would make Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) the sole gas aggregator in the state.
Last month, Abang Johari refuted suggestions that his state was acting greedily, saying it was merely exercising a “constitutional right” to distribute gas which belongs to the state.
He previously said Sarawak was prepared to battle any party that “disrespects” its “rights” in a court of law.
