PETALING JAYA:
The Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council has confirmed Azmin Ali’s appointment as the coalition’s secretary-general.

PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, who chaired last night’s Supreme Council meeting, also announced the appointment of Mas Ermieyati Samsudin as the Wanita PN chief, reported Bernama.

Azmin confirmed that Bersatu had appointed Hamzah Zainudin as PN deputy chairman, alongside Radzi Jidin and Ronald Kiandee as PN Supreme Council members, reflecting the party’s recent election results.

Ahmad Faizal Azumu meanwhile was named the PN information chief.

“The Supreme Council meeting also discussed and took note of the current political developments in Sabah and stressed that the coalition will participate in the Sabah state elections, which is scheduled to be held no later than November 2025,” said Azmin.

He added that Sabah PN had been entrusted with preparing and strategising for the formation of a new government in the state.

The PN Supreme Council also approved the establishment of a policy and strategy department to oversee strategy and action plans, as well as to conduct surveys on current national issues.

Muhyiddin previously announced that Azmin would replace Hamzah, who was recently elected as Bersatu deputy president, as the new PN secretary-general.

PN and PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden however took to Facebook to propose that the post be given to PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan instead.

Afnan said Takiyuddin was more senior and experienced than Azmin, and was already the coalition’s deputy secretary-general.
