Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) told the Dewan Rakyat that the findings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the 2024 auditor-general’s report gave sufficient evidence to support such a change.
“Although MACC found no evidence of corruption in this issue, we have a Madani government that prioritises good governance.
“We emphasise transparency and integrity,” he said when debating PAC’s report on follow-up action by the human resources ministry on HRD Corp.
According to the report released today, MACC said no offence under the MACC Act had been committed.
“We opened an investigation paper and we found no offence had been committed under the MACC Act,” the agency’s officer, Fuad Sedet, was quoted as saying.
Sim Tze Tzin, who earlier presented the PAC report, said the committee believed the auditor-general would not have made such a recommendation without solid grounds.
“In fact, during the proceedings, we also suspected the possibility of abuse of power within HRD Corp,” he said.
“We have no malicious intent or wish to accuse anyone, but we want HRD Corp to enhance its reputation among the people, especially the contributors of the agency.”
The 2024 auditor-general’s report recommended that the human resources ministry refer HRD Corp’s management to the enforcement agencies after the company failed its audit.
It said the actions and decisions of its management did not comply with procedure and had failed to protect the interests necessary for achieving HRD Corp’s objectives.
