PETALING JAYA:
Two days after the floods in Terengganu and Pahang receded, the meteorological department (MetMalaysia) has warned of a “very heavy” two-day long downpour in the two states, particularly on the coastal areas.

The department issued a “dangerous” level warning today with heavy rain expected continuously until Wednesday in Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu, as well as Kuantan and Pekan in Pahang.

Relief centres in both states had just closed last Saturday, with all evacuees allowed to return home.

MetMalaysia also warned of continuous heavy rain until Dec 11 in other parts of Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu) and Pahang (Jerantut, Maran and Rompin), as well as multiple districts in Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang).

A continuous downpour was also forecast until Dec 11 over Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Johor and the rest of Kelantan and Pahang.

As of 8.15pm today, there were 406 flood victims remaining in 12 relief centres in four states, an increase over 203 reported as of 4pm.
