Penang PAS information chief Fawwaz Jan made the call in response to Najib’s application to the courts on Thursday regarding the royal order, purportedly made by the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Fawwaz said home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had told the Dewan Rakyat last month that the existence of the supplementary order is only hearsay.
“Penang PAS now calls upon the current government to be upfront, clarify the situation, and verify the existence of the royal order,” he said in a statement.
Fawwaz said the government would be violating the principles of the Rukun Negara if it is found to be concealing the existence of the supplementary order.
Najib has sought leave to commence proceedings for a judicial review over the purported order. On Thursday, Najib’s lawyer, Shafee Abdullah, said new evidence to support the application was recently obtained by Najib’s son, Nizar.
Senior federal counsel Shamsul Bolhassan asked the appeals court to adjourn a hearing on an appeal by Najib to enable the government to verify the authenticity of a document produced in the case.
