
Kelantan continues to record the highest number of evacuees, but the total dropped to 6,269 this morning from 7,600 last night, with 18 relief centres still operating, Bernama reported.
According to the social welfare department, Tumpat recorded the highest number of evacuees at 5,721 from 1,731 families, followed by Pasir Mas with 526 evacuees from 154 families, and Kuala Krai with 22 evacuees from seven families.
Meanwhile, the drainage and irrigation department reported that only Sungai Golok in Tumpat remains above the danger level, with a reading of 3.18m against the danger threshold of 3m.
In Kedah, state civil defence force deputy director Suhaimi Zain reported that the number of evacuees dropped this morning to 1,865 from 566 families, compared to 2,131 from 642 families last night.
Floods still affect two districts in Kedah – Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu. In Kota Setar, 1,590 evacuees from 486 families are placed at 11 relief centres, while in Kubang Pasu, 275 evacuees from 80 families remain at three relief centres.
In Johor, the flood situation has also improved, with one relief centre at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Balai Badang in Segamat, closing last night. The number of evacuees in the state went from 620 last night to 521 this morning.
Johor disaster management committee chairman Azmi Rohan reported that 313 evacuees from 93 families are still housed at 12 relief centres in Segamat, followed by Tangkak with 176 evacuees (48 families at two relief centres) and Batu Pahat with 32 evacuees (10 families at one relief centre).
In Perak, the state disaster management committee secretariat stated that the number of evacuees remains the same, at 129 from 43 families housed at three relief centres in the Kinta and Perak Tengah districts.
Of this total, 95 evacuees from 32 families are housed at two relief centres – at Dewan Serbaguna Tanjung Tualang and SK St Paul in Kinta – while the centre at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Teluk Kepayang, Bota, is accommodating 34 evacuees from 11 families.
In Melaka, 123 evacuees from 32 families remain at two relief centres in the Jasin district – 103 evacuees from 25 families at SK Parit Penghulu and 20 evacuees from seven families at SK Seri Mendapat.
In Pahang, the number of evacuees remains at 13 from four families, housed at Balai Raya Kampung Baru Pertanian, Maran.
According to publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my, only Sungai Pahang in Lubuk Paku, Maran, has exceeded the warning level.
