JOHOR BAHRU:
The founder of a welfare home has withdrawn a police report lodged yesterday over the alleged assault of a resident by a teacher at a school here.

Herman Sudil, of Pusat Jagaan Tenang Bersama Qadar, said the decision was made following discussions with the parties involved yesterday.

“A meeting was held involving the headmaster, teacher and the school’s management at the police station. We agreed to withdraw the police report after a thorough discussion and considering the interests of all parties.

“Today, representatives from the Johor Bahru education office, Johor education department, Johor Bahru Selatan police headquarters and the school met with the welfare home,” he said in a statement.

He added that the home apologised for the misunderstanding.

Johor Bahru Selatan police chief Raub Selamat said earlier today that a report had been lodged on the alleged assault of a 10-year-old pupil by a school teacher.

A Facebook user had previously claimed that the boy was slapped, punched and had his hair pulled before he was dragged to the school office by the teacher.

The post went viral and sparked public outrage, with many demanding that necessary action be taken.
