Evacuees drop to 50,765 across 7 states as flood situation improves

In the worst-hit state of Kelantan, the number of flood victims has dropped to 35,075.

The flood situation in the seven affected states is gradually improving, with the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres (PPS) dropping to 50,765 as of 7.30am today.

In the worst-hit state of Kelantan, the number of flood victims fell to 35,075, with 11,152 people at 88 PPS across four districts, according to Berita Harian.

According to the social welfare department’s website, the districts still affected by flooding are Pasir Mas with 15,491 victims, Tumpat (19,140), Kota Bharu (403), and Bachok (41).

In Terengganu, seven districts remain flooded, with 8,305 victims from 2,117 families at 41 PPS. Kedah meanwhile reported 5,976 victims from 1,883 families at 27 PPS across three districts.

In Johor, 1,033 flood victims from 296 families are still sheltering at 18 PPS in two districts while in Perak, two districts remain affected, with 165 people from 58 families at six PPS.

The flood situation is also improving in Melaka, with only one district still affected and 160 people from 41 families at two PPS. In Pahang, four PPS remain open in three districts, accommodating 51 victims from 12 families.
