
The fare amounts are however slightly higher than what the budget carrier had set for this year.
Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, as well as Johor Bahru to Kuching, Sibu and Miri, will be sold at RM328 compared with RM298 this year.
Meanwhile, flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau, as well as Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu, are being offered at RM388, a slight increase from the previous RM348.
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook praised the airline for taking the lead in efforts to make air travel more affordable and accessible for Malaysians, saying this aligned with the government’s ongoing initiatives.
“The government remains committed to helping people reunite during festive periods and we look forward to collaborating with other industry partners on this initiative for the betterment of our nation,” he said.
AirAsia expects to operate nearly 3,600 flights throughout the week during the festive period.
