University condemns killing of cats on Setapak campus

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) has condemned the killing of three cats whose bodies were found on its Setapak campus.

It said it will not tolerate any act of cruelty against living beings.

“The university will now leave it with the authorities to do what is needed,” it said in a statement today.

“We will continue to give our full support and cooperation to the authorities.”

Yesterday, Wangsa Maju police chief Lazim Ismail confirmed that a report had been lodged on the incident, which is believed to have happened on Nov 17.

Lazim said the cats were found dead and covered in blood at the stairs of a student hostel.

Police have classified the case under Section 428 of the Penal Code, dealing with mischief by killing an animal.

It was reported that according to a TikTok post by user Nanisnanaa, the cats were found with stab wounds to their heads.
