PETALING JAYA:
Three family members, who had been stranded on the roof of a house in Kampung Meranti, Pasir Mas, since yesterday evening, have been rescued by villagers.

They were stranded on the roof after they returned home yesterday to move their belongings to higher ground.

Fazlinda Salleh, 38, said her husband, Rijal Asmawi, 42, and their sons, Faiz, 15, and Fitri, 12, were rescued by residents and brought to the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bayu Lalang, Pasir Mas, at about 3.50pm today.

“They were saved by the villagers, using a private boat. I’m just so thankful they’re all safe, even though they are really exhausted.

“I take this as a lesson for our family. I also want to thank those who reached out and shared my post on Facebook,” she told Bernama.

Earlier, Bernama reported that a housewife from Kampung Meranti turned to social media, desperately seeking immediate rescue of her husband and two sons, who had been stranded on the roof of a house since yesterday evening due to rising floodwaters.
