KUANTAN:
Pahang has set a target for state government revenue collection to reach RM1.194 billion next year, a 5% increase from 2024, says menteri besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

He said RM1.182 billion has been allocated for operating expenditure, which includes emoluments, services and supplies, grants and fixed payments as well as other expenditures and assets.

Presenting Pahang’s 2025 budget at the state assembly today, Wan Rosdy said the RM1.182 billion allocation reflects an increase of RM57 million or 5.05% from this year, resulting in a surplus of RM12 million.

“Meanwhile, RM399.64 million has been set aside for development expenditure. This budget is presented with a strong commitment to ensure every aspect of the state’s prosperity can be enjoyed by all communities regardless of race or religion,” he said.

Wan Rosdy said the budget emphasises food security, with RM36.78 million for the agricultural sector, RM24.41 million for livestock and RM500,000 for the state fisheries department.

He said RM19.89 million has been allocated for flood mitigation programmes, initiatives and related projects, including flood mitigation plans, coastal erosion control projects, river estuary rehabilitation and urban drainage systems.

Education initiatives include three Orang Asli development programmes with a total allocation of RM2.4 million.

“Additionally, to encourage more Pahang children to attend tahfiz kindergartens, the state government has agreed to allocate RM2.52 million to subsidise education fees for B40 students,” he said.

Wan Rosdy said RM3 million has been allocated to extend satellite broadband subscriptions in areas with poor internet access through the Prisma 4.0 programme.

For Orang Asli community development, initiatives include housing repair and water supply projects, with a total allocation of RM2.03 million.

He also said RM800,000 has been allocated to upgrade and maintain sports facilities under the Pahang Sports Council, RM3 million to construct the Benta sports complex and RM1.65 million for initiatives and programmes such as the national youth day and sports day celebrations.

Next year, the state government will continue existing assistance programmes, including the Pahang primary and secondary school scholarship with an allocation of RM23.9 million, and RM50.54 million for the Makmur Pahang initiative.
