6 years’ jail for man who stabbed wife, 6-year-old son

PETALING JAYA:
A food deliveryman has been sentenced to six years in jail and one stroke of the rotan for stabbing his wife and six-year-old son with a knife in July.

Ampang sessions court judge Norshila Kamaruddin meted out the sentence on Syarifuddin Agussalim, 34, after he pleaded guilty to both charges.

She ordered Syarifuddin’s sentence to commence from the date of his arrest on July 28, Berita Harian reported.

Syarifuddin was charged with causing hurt to his wife, 33, and son with two knives behind a convenience store in Ampang at about 6pm on July 27.

The charges were framed under Sections 324 and 326A of the Penal Code, punishable by up to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or whipping.

According to the facts of the case, the couple got into an argument after the man refused to divorce her. He then stabbed her in the hand, along with their son.
