Sanusi told the Kedah state assembly today the amount will be disbursed to the 5,076 state civil servants in March and June next year, Berita Harian reported.
“A total of RM12 million has been allocated for this,” he said when tabling the state’s 2025 budget at Wisma Darul Aman in Alor Setar.
Earlier this month, Selangor and Penang announced similar bonuses for their civil servants.
Sanusi also said the Kedah government has allocated an additional RM30 million to cover the salaries of state civil servants who opt for the new civil service remuneration system (SSPA), which comes into effect on Dec 1.
“The increment will be reflected in their salaries for next month,” he said.
SSPA, which will replace the Malaysian Remuneration System, will involve the salary restructuring of around 1.6 million civil servants. The last salary review was carried out in 2013.
In August, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was reported to have said that civil servants in top management will receive a 7% wage hike while those categorised as implementers, managers and professionals will see a 15% pay increase.
The increments will be implemented in two phases, with the first on Dec 1 and Phase 2 on Jan 1, 2026.
