Cop claims trial to stealing dead woman’s jewellery

Lance corporal Alifah Mohd Sapie faces a prison sentence of up to seven years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

KUALA LUMPUR:
A police officer pleaded not guilty at the magistrates’ court here today to stealing jewellery from a deceased woman last month.

Alifah Mohd Sapie, who is a lance corporal, was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

If found guilty, he could be jailed up to seven years, fined, or both.

Alifah is accused of stealing a necklace and bracelet belonging to the late Nur Farhana Nisha Syazwan on Oct 1, at Jalan Prima Setapak here.

Magistrate Arunjothy Selvaraju set bail at RM3,500 with one surety and fixed Jan 22, 2025 for mention.

Alifah was represented by Lavanyia Raja while deputy public prosecutor Vivi Asnita Zainal Ariffin prosecuted.
