PETALING JAYA:
National doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani marched into the quarter-finals of the China Masters after defeating a Taiwanese pair today.

The world No 8 pair took 35 minutes to beat Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Wang Chi Lin in straight games 21-18, 21-16.

This win assures the Malaysian pair a slot in the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals to be held in Hangzhou, China, next month.

Separately, Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chen Teng Jie-Toh Ee Wei came back from the jaws of defeat to beat the French pair of Thom Gucquel-Delphine Delrue to qualify for the last eight.

Teng Jie-Ee Wei took 65 minutes before overcoming their rivals 14-21, 23-21, 21-8.

Also through to the quarter-finals is mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin, who created an upset by defeating  homesters Jiang Zhen Ba-Wei Ya Xin 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 in a match lasting about an hour.

In another men’s doubles match, young Malaysian pair Junaidi Arif-Roy King Yap crashed out in straight games to China’s He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu 10-21, 19-21.

Mixed doubles pair Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien were also knocked out in the second round today, losing 21-17, 15-21, 9-21 to Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man-Tsi Ying Suet.
