PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said she recently issued a directive that media reports on issues involving party members should be taken by the party’s disciplinary board as a complaint.
“This means that the PKR disciplinary board can start its investigation (into the bribery allegations) even in the absence of a formal report.
“In the meantime, my office will be on the alert regarding the entrance of new members in that particular division. We will scrutinise its new members,” she told FMT.
Fuziah added that the disciplinary board needed time to probe the allegation before bringing its findings to the central leadership council.
On Monday, Sin Chew quoted sources as saying that members of a certain political party were distributing money to local residents in Seri Kembangan to boost the division’s membership ahead of the party’s upcoming elections.
According to the report, the residents received RM100 from party members for joining, and this had taken place throughout the past month.
FMT was made to understand that it involved PKR members.
Separately, Fuziah said she introduced the directive on probing complaints from news reports following an FMT report last week about a division leader trying to rally support to oppose changes to PKR’s voting mechanism.
She drew parallels with government ministries, where complaints made on social media platforms such as Facebook are often investigated.
“It is sufficient to start an investigation, so I have implemented that policy for the disciplinary board,” she said.
