Northern Penang island to face 14-hour water cut

The supply disruption next Thursday is for repairs to a malfunctioning valve and other maintenance work at the Batu Ferringhi water treatment plant.

PBAPP advised those affected by the coming disruption to store water for use overnight and the following morning until water supply services are normalised.
PETALING JAYA:
About 37,000 consumers in the northern beachfront areas of Penang island will face a 14-hour water disruption next Thursday.

According to the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP), the scheduled water disruption will start at 10pm next Thursday and continue until noon the following day.

In a statement, PBAPP said a 900mm sluice valve at one of the Batu Ferringhi water treatment plant inlet pipelines had malfunctioned and would be replaced with a new 900mm butterfly valve.

The company will also service high-voltage switchgear and a transformer, with TNB personnel on-site to perform preventive maintenance work.

PBAPP advised those affected by the coming disruption to store water for use overnight and the following morning until water supply services are normalised.

The affected areas are Bagan Jermal, Tanjung Pinang, Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Tokong, Mount Erskine, Teluk Bahang and Tanjung Bungah.
