PETALING JAYA:
Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has clarified that a complaint on LinkedIn by a worker about her delayed salary is an isolated incident.

In a statement, RTM explained that the staff member involved was hired to work with the national public broadcasting service on a piecemeal basis last month.

“The payment process for all workers hired on piecemeal basis at RTM now is as per Procurement Procedure WP10.9, that is payments for services are made within seven to 14 working days after complete documentation is received,” it said in a statement.

It also said the employee concerned had previously submitted incomplete claim documents and was asked to resubmit the necessary paperwork before payment could proceed.

RTM added that it ensures payments are made to such workers in an orderly manner and in full compliance with financial procedures.

Yesterday, the worker, believed to be an editor with RTM’s English section, claimed she had yet to receive her first month’s salary. She said she had started working there last month.
