Woo wins DAP Youth chief’s post unopposed

Balakong assemblyman Ong Chun Wei has been made deputy chief of the party’s youth wing.

The DAP Youth election was held this morning at the Grand Centro Ballroom in Klang.

Pasir Bedamar assemblyman Woo Kah Leong has been elected as the new DAP Youth chief for the 2024-2027 term, succeeding Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii.

The party’s youth wing election, which was held this morning at the Grand Centro Ballroom in Klang, saw a total of 32 members comprising 22 elected and 10 co-opted members form the youth wing’s national executive committee.

Woo, who won unopposed, will be assisted by Balakong assemblyman Ong Chun Wei as his deputy. Ong takes over from Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman for the deputy post.

Yii and Young Syefura stepped down as they had both crossed the age threshold of 35 to hold the posts.

Also elected were four vice-chiefs, namely G Annun Nancy, Tang Szu Ching, S Liinesh, and Raja Ahmad Iskandar Fareez.

Meanwhile, Lim Chun Weng has been made secretary, with Lim Shu Chzen and Tan Kim Ping as assistant secretaries I and II.

Edwin Tang is co-opted as the committee’s treasurer, and he will be assisted by Heng Sue Yeen as the assistant treasurer.

Lim Zheng Han is organising secretary, assisted by Wong Yau Liang and Allen Tan, who are co-opted, as assistant organising secretaries I and II.

The position of publicity secretary went to Tanah Rata assemblyman Ho Chi Yang, with Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman Pang Sock Tao and Nursyaheera Abdul Ghafar both made assistant publicity secretaries I and II, respectively.

Tiw Tee Siang now holds the position of international secretary, assisted by M Kusaaliny as assistant international secretary.

Low Wei Jian is the director of political education while Koh Ling Xian, a co-opted member, is the director of varsity affairs.

Meanwhile, Ng Thien Yeong, another co-opted member, is head of the public policy bureau.

Other members elected to the new committee include Roderick Wong, Goh See Hua, NC Oneal Veneddey Vencent, and Yap Yee Vonne.

The co-opted members include Lim Wei Qian, Suweeta Lam, Tan Wee King, Benji Ang, Jason Tze-Xi Nathan and Lee Hooi Yee.

The newly-formed committee will take effect immediately.
