PETALING JAYA:
A Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) student from a school in Sri Gading, Batu Pahat, was charged in the magistrates’ court today with a total of 63 counts of non-physical sexual assault on male students, including one count for possessing child pornography.

The 17-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty to all the charges before magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin, Berita Harian reported.

The first to 62nd charges allege that he had committed non-physical sexual assault on seven male junior students, aged 13 to 17, by asking them to expose their bodies to him.

It was reported that the incidents took place at several school toilets, a surau and homes of the victims in Batu Pahat, Kluang and Tangkak from December 2023 to last month.

If found guilty under Section 15 (a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, the accused can be sentenced to 10 years in jail or a fine of not more than RM20,000, or both for each charge.

The final charge alleged that the accused was in possession of child pornography videos.

If found guilty under Section 10 of the same Act, he could be jailed for five years, or fined up to RM10,000, or both.

It was reported that he allegedly asked his victims to perform and record indecent acts before handing the videos to him.

The court set Dec 11 for the mention of the case and submission of documents.

The accused was granted bail of RM5,000 in one surety and ordered not to disturb the witnesses or victims until the case is disposed of.
