PETALING JAYA: A cafeteria in the main Parliament building has been ordered to close by the Kuala Lumpur health department following an inspection that revealed multiple health and safety violations.
According to the closure order, health officials gave the cafeteria management 14 days to address the violations before another inspection, which will determine if it can resume operations.
The closure has caused inconvenience to MPs, Parliament staff and visitors, many of whom depend on the cafeteria for meals and refreshments during long sittings.
This is likely the first ever closure order issued to a cafeteria in Parliament, which serves hundreds daily.
FMT has reached out to the cafeteria’s management for comment.
