
PUTRAJAYA: The government has conveyed its condolences to the family of former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, who died today at the age of 86.
Unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil paid tribute to Daim for his significant contributions to the nation during his two tenures in the Cabinet.
“On behalf of the government, I would like to express our condolences to the family of Daim. We pray that his family will have patience in facing this loss. Our condolences,” he told Bernama and RTM after a communications ministry event here today.
Daim served as finance minister from 1984 to 1991 and again from 1999 to 2001.
Funeral prayers are expected to be held at about 5pm at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur.
