PETALING JAYA:
A sinkhole opened up on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) this morning on the emergency lane at Km18.6 headed south.

It forced highway authorities to close off the emergency lane and a portion of the left lane between Kota Damansara and Damansara, said PLUS Malaysia in a Facebook post.

This follows heavy rain in the Klang Valley this morning, which led to flash floods in parts of Kuala Lumpur, Mutiara Damansara and Klang.

In August, an 8m-deep sinkhole opened up on Jalan Masjid India in downtown Kuala Lumpur, swallowing up a 48-year-old Indian tourist, who was walking down the street.

A search operation failed to locate the body of the tourist, Vijayaletchumy, and was called off after nine days.

There were several more reports of sinkholes in the city after that, though no one was harmed in those incidents.
