GEORGE TOWN:
Environmental officials are investigating a suspected pollution incident in the waters near the floating mosque in Tanjung Bungah after images of brown streaks in the water circulated on social media.

State environment director Norazizi Adinan said the fisheries department and the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority had also been asked to look into the matter.

“It appears to be a possible act of sabotage or is intentional, given its location in a highly visible area,” he said.

Penang fisheries director Zarina Zainuddin said the department had not received any information about the incident.
