The Perak wildlife protection and national parks department (Perhilitan) said the tiger’s carcass was mutilated. Its skin, fangs, claws and whiskers were missing, Sinar Harian reported.
“A police report has been lodged. Perhilitan will cooperate with the police in collecting information to help track down the parties responsible,” Perak Perhilitan director Yusoff Shariff said.
He added that being in possession of any of the animal’s parts would be an offence under the Wildlife Conservation Act, punishable by a RM1 million fine and up to 15 years in jail, if convicted.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 5.30am today at Km67.1 of the East-West Highway, headed towards Gerik from Jeli, Kelantan.
