Terengganu education director Jelani Sulong said the incident occurred at about 8am, affecting students attending the “Anakku Cemerlang” camp in preparation for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
He said eight students initially complained of stomach ache and vomiting and were taken to Setiu Hospital by their teachers.
“Not long after that, two more students complained of stomach pain and were sent to the Permaisuri health clinic for treatment. After that, 12 more students showed signs of food poisoning,” he said.
Jelani said the Setiu health office conducted inspections and collected food samples for analysis.
He said only one student had been warded while the others were allowed to return home.
“The case has been handed over to the health office for investigation and further action,” he said.
