PETALING JAYA:
The Sabah polls next year will be a “laboratory” to test the cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, says Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Berita Harian reported the BN chairman as saying the polls will be important to test the understanding between the two coalitions for the next general election.

He said the cooperation between PH and BN had been the foundation for the unity government’s formation and should be continued for the sake of political stability.

“We will translate PH and BN’s cooperation into results at the Sabah election first.

“After that, we will use the same formula for cooperation with other coalitions,” said Zahid, who is also deputy prime minister, at a press conference in Kuching, Sarawak.

Zahid was commenting on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s statement yesterday that PH and BN’s cooperation should continue in the next general election for the sake of political stability.

Anwar was reported as saying the current political situation made it hard for any one party to comfortably control the majority in Parliament, and that Malaysia has been one of the most stable nations in the region for the past two years.

Zahid said BN would not shut the door to discussions of cooperation with any other coalition.

“However, we won’t open this door too wide,” he was quoted as saying.

Zahid also said PH and BN had agreed to use their respective logos in the coming polls.
