LARUT:
All the 10 suspended divisions of Bersatu are allowed to hold their annual meetings and elect their leaders in December.

Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said their branches may also hold their meetings from Nov 7.

“We are not suspending the elections at the divisional level forever, we are just postponing them to avoid unwanted things happening involving the entire election process,” he told reporters after opening the Larut Bersatu division meeting at Sungai Bayor, near here, today.

Bersatu’s election committee chairman, Abdul Azim Zabidi, had confirmed earlier that the 10 divisions were suspended and could not take part in the party’s election taking place today.

It meant the members in the 10 divisions will not be able to elect the party’s three new vice-presidents and 20 Supreme Council members.

The 10 divisions are those in Jasin, Tapah, Teluk Intan, Machang, Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Bendera, Tanjong, Cameron Highlands, Hulu Langat and Kota Melaka.
