PETALING JAYA:
Police have taken a statement from the senior cadet suspected of being involved in the bullying of a junior at the National Defence University (UPNM).

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said the statement was taken at the Cheras police headquarters today.

“Police will call his roommate as another witness this evening. Investigations are ongoing,” Harian Metro reported him as saying.

It was reported earlier that police had begun an investigation into allegations that a senior cadet had pressed a hot iron against the chest of a junior cadet.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at the UPNM hostel at 11.45pm on Oct 22.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the investigation is being carried out under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

According to him, the 20-year-old victim said in a police report that he had been asked by the fourth-year cadet to iron his clothes.

“Suddenly, the 22-year-old senior took the iron held by the complainant and pressed it against his right chest once,” he said.
