The Red Giants lost 3-0 to JDT in a Super League clash on Sunday, leaving the club second in the 13-team table with 26 points from 13 games. The club currently trail JDT, which has a game in hand, by eight points.
In a statement, Selangor FC said they respect Nidzam’s decision and announced that Abdi Hassan would take over as interim head coach.
“Under Nidzam’s guidance, Selangor FC are now among the top three teams (in the Super League), runner-up in this season’s FA Cup and top of Group H of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Two (ACL2),” said the club.
“He had instilled a spirit of competitiveness among the players, and his leadership had been crucial in ensuring the team continued to perform at the highest level.”
Nidzam was appointed Selangor FC’s head coach in March to replace Tan Cheng Hoe, who resigned in February to take over Thai side Police Tero FC.
