
Takiyuddin said the nation risked losing its direction without effective conflict resolution, particularly in light of “challenging geopolitical developments”, which see political, economic, racial or personal agendas superseding national interests.
“It would be even more unfortunate if some among us – albeit unknowingly – become ‘Trojan horses’ for ‘foreign’ ambitions and narratives that, if left unchecked, could not only erode but potentially undermine our own national interests and aspirations.
“In conjunction with this Deepavali celebration, PAS hopes that all will seek truth and justice instead of being swayed by emotions, sentiments or exaggerated behaviours and deceitfulness, given their inherently destructive nature,” he said in a statement.
The Kota Bharu MP also urged all Malaysians to harmonise the nation’s rich ethnic, religious and cultural diversity to make it “a shared asset rather than a destructive poison”.
Takiyuddin said Deepavali’s core message of light triumphing over darkness, and truth over falsehood, was one that could resonate with all Malaysians.
“We wish everyone a joyful holiday and a happy Deepavali,” he said.
