Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong accused Razman of fanning racial sentiments, while Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan said Razman had sown discord by exploiting the incident.
Ong said Razman had “clearly” slandered Nga Kor Ming by claiming that the Perak DAP chairman had officiated at the parade when he was attending a meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
“He has a hidden agenda. His reaction, to instigate and fan racial sentiments, can be detrimental to society. Such practices must be eradicated,” he said in a statement.
He also said he supported Nga’s plan to sue Razman for defamation.
The controversy arose after a video was shared online showing a group of people waving the Chinese flag near the Leaning Tower in Teluk Intan during a temple festival and parade.
The Guan Gong Cultural Association later apologised, saying the flags were displayed by Chinese nationals attending the festival and had not been planned by the organisers.
Razman criticised the event, and was also alleged to have made remarks at a counter-demonstration last night.
Syahredzan also criticised Razman’s speech, saying it clearly “sowed the seeds of hatred and division” by exploiting the flag-waving incident which took place during a religious ceremony.
“It is clear that Razman and PAS are complicating matters by playing up sentiments even though police are investigating the incident,” he said in a separate statement.
Syahredzan also accused Razman of slandering Nga with his claim that Nga was present at the event.
He said it would be better for Razman and PAS to be a responsible and constructive opposition in Perak and at the federal level instead of playing agent provocateur.
“Unfortunately, it has been proven that PAS and Perikatan Nasional cannot be an agent for unity and continue to play the race and religious card for their political interest,” he said.
Perak police are investigating the incident and have recorded statements from 16 Chinese nationals who took part in the parade.
Statements are also to be taken from those who took part in a counter-demonstration yesterday.
