KUALA KRAI:
Firefighters have captured a 7m-long batik python weighing about 240kg after it devoured three goats belonging to residents of Kampung Ngangah here today.

Kuala Krai fire and rescue chief Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa said a farmer reported at 7.15am that the snake had taken refuge inside the goat pen next to his home after swallowing a mother goat and her two kids.

“The operation to capture the python took about 10 minutes,” Nik Ahmad said. The snake was sluggish and unable to escape after gorging on its meal.

Three members of the Guchil volunteer fire brigade and seven members of the Kuala Krai station took part in the operation.

The python was handed over to the wildlife and parks department.
