PETALING JAYA:
An unemployed man today pleaded guilty in the Batu Pahat magistrates’ court to a charge of trespassing and damaging property belonging to the Johor sultan last month.

Qamarulazim Samad, 20, entered his plea after the charge was read before magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin, Harian Metro reported.

He was charged with entering a guest house belonging to the Johor sultan on Sept 23.

The charge against him was made under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house-trespass and housebreaking, which provides for a jail term of five to 14 years, and a fine.

Deputy public prosecutor Farah Wahidah Sharip led the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.

The prosecution previously submitted a psychiatric report from Permai Hospital to determine whether the accused should be prosecuted or not.

The court then found Qamarulazim fit to be tried and to make a plea on the charge against him.

The court has set Nov 21 for facts and sentencing.

It also allowed the accused bail of RM4,000 with one surety and ordered him to report to the Parit Raja police station on the 1st and 15th of each month until the disposal of the case.
