
PETALING JAYA: Following a viral video on social media, welfare authorities rescued a four-year-old girl, suspected of being abused by her parents, yesterday.
The women, family and community development ministry, in a statement today, said the Selangor social welfare department initiated an investigation yesterday, Bernama reported.
The child has been taken to Selayang Hospital for further examination.
Following the hospital’s assessment, the welfare department will provide protective care to the child, under Section 25 (2)(b) of the Child Act 2001.
Police are further investigating the case, it added.
The ministry urged anyone aware of abuse cases to contact the police, or reach out to its Talian Kasih helpline at 15999 or via WhatsApp at 019-261 5999.
