Last two Malaysian mixed doubles pairs lose in close encounters.

Top women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah qualified for the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open when they overcame South Korea’s Lee Yu Lim-Shin Seung Chan in a tight three-game match in Odense last night.

Pearly-Thinaah trailed by a game before going on to win 20-22, 21-18, 21-16 and will take on Japan’s Kie Nakanishi-Rin Iwagana for a place in the semi-finals tonight.

In the men’s doubles, top Malaysian pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik also qualified for the quarter-finals after a close match with compatriots Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun 21-23, 21-17, 21-16.

Aaron-Wooi Yik will next meet Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi of China for a place in the last four.

In the mixed doubles, both remaining Malaysian pairs lost in close three-game encounters.

Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin went down to China’s Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Yaxin 8-21, 23-21, 14-21, and Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing lost 21-16, 18-21, 16-21 to Jeong Na-eun-Kim won-ho of South Korea.
