8 men charged with robbery of more than RM6mil in gold bars

Four men are accused of robbing a man of 16.9kg in gold bars on Sept 13 and four others in another case were charged with the robbery of two gold bars on Oct 3.

Eight men were charged today in two separate cases of robbery involving gold bars valued at more than RM6 million.

Four men, along with two others previously charged, pleaded not guilty to using parangs to rob a 22-year-old man of 16.9kg in gold bars in front of a factory in Puchong on Sept 13.

In a similar case, four other men pleaded not guilty to robbing a gold courier of two gold bars, weighing 2kg and valued at RM710,000, in front of the Damai LRT station in Kampung Datuk Keramat on Oct 3.

The four accused in the first case were mechanic Aziz Ahmad Nor, 38, air-conditioner repairman Krishore Raam, 30, and two unemployed men, Shah Harizie Zainal, 39, and Afiq Jamal, 33.

They were each granted a RM10,000 bail in one surety and ordered to report to the police every month, refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses and surrender their passports to the court.

In the other case, those charged were salesman Putra Ramadan Jendaita, 37, security guards Ahmad Ramdhani Subhan, 25, and Afrizal Muslim, 39, as well as self-employed Nazuwar Nahar, 36.

They were each granted a RM15,000 bail in one surety on similar terms as the previous four accused.
