Revive Malaysian Indian Blueprint in Budget 2025, say Indian NGOs

Community coalition i-25 says the national budget presents a key opportunity for the government to reaffirm its commitment to economic inclusivity and equity.

Community coalition i-25 said the revived MIB would provide a structured approach to addressing several challenges faced by the Indian community.
PETALING JAYA:
The government needs to revive the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB) in the form of a comprehensive action plan in Budget 2025 to uplift the community, says a coalition of Indian NGOs.

In a statement, the coalition known as i-25 urged the government to give new life to the framework of the MIB, which was sidelined in 2018 following the change of government.

“While several initiatives have been introduced for the Indian community since the government took office in October 2023, there is still a need for a comprehensive plan to transform the Indian community.

“Fortunately, a framework already exists in the form of the MIB, introduced in 2017.

“Rather than creating a new plan from scratch, the government can revitalise and adapt the MIB, ensuring no community is left behind in Malaysia’s journey toward economic equity and shared prosperity,” said i-25.

The group said the revived MIB would provide a structured approach to addressing several challenges, such as funding for vocational training and education, government-backed investments by entrepreneurs, and financial safety nets.

“The upcoming national budget presents a key opportunity for the government to reaffirm its commitment to economic inclusivity and equity.

“By allocating sufficient resources to revitalise and expand the MIB, the government can ensure the Indian community is not left behind.

“This will create a more equitable, prosperous and harmonious Malaysia, where every community has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the nation’s economic future.”
