The accused, 48, pleaded guilty when the charges were read to him before magistrate Ling Hui Chuan, reported Dayak Daily.
Ling also ordered the accused to serve seven months in jail if he could not pay the fine.
He was accused of committing the offence at a house in Kampung Tapah, on May 16, where he was found in possession of the explicit videos on his phone.
The charges were framed under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment, or a fine, or both upon conviction.
The accused’s wife, an Indonesian national, was informed by a friend that her husband had uploaded inappropriate videos and images of her on Facebook without her knowledge.
The videos, which were also taken without her knowledge, showed her undressing in the bathroom while the images showed her partially nude.
The 41-year-old woman lodged a police report against her husband. She also suspects that her husband has other compromising footage of her.
During the hearing, the man claimed he recorded the videos as “evidence” in case his wife misbehaved. However, the magistrate rebuked him and said that was not an appropriate way to handle marital issues.
Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was not represented.
