“There have been previous announcements about starting the project in the final quarter of this year,” Chow said.

On the Pulau Pinang ferry that is sinking further at Swettenham Pier, Chow said he wants it salvaged immediately.
He said a private company was tasked with the repairs but faced difficulties due to water leakage. However, he added, efforts are ongoing to resolve the issue.
The ferry, now out of service, is being leased to a company to be converted into a museum by the Penang Port Commission.
Chow also gave his assurance that the state’s disaster management unit is prepared for any potential flooding following the meteorological department’s severe weather warning issued for the entire state throughout this week.
He said evacuation centres are on standby and the Sungai Dua water treatment plant is being closely monitored.
Despite increased water turbidity caused by floods in Kedah, the plant remains fully operational.
