A woman and two men who worked at a GISBH resort are alleged to have arranged forced marriages with higher-level persons, says the inspector-general of police.
PETALING JAYA:
A 20-year-old man is to be charged tomorrow with a sexual crime involving a 16-year-old girl in a case linked to investigations into Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH).

A woman and two other men will also be charged at the same court in Kota Tinggi, Johor, with offences related to human trafficking, said Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain, Bernama reported.

Razarudin said the 20-year-old was arrested by Johor police on Oct 1 after receiving a report from the victim who alleged that the suspect committed indecent acts twice in June. He will be charged with two offences.

The three others, aged 28 to 57, worked at a resort owned by GISBH and were alleged to have trafficked four people aged 30 to 57 for the purpose of exploiting forced labour through threats.

One of the suspects, who is 28 years old, will also be further investigated on suspicion of being a member of an organised crime group.

The three were also found to have arranged forced marriages by matching women with higher-level persons, disallowing the use of mobile phones, and allowing married couples to meet only once or twice a month.

On Thursday, 16 people, including members of GISBH’s top management, were rearrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 for investigations into child exploitation and alleged doctrine of religious fanaticism.

So far 58 individuals have been arrested under the Act, said federal criminal investigation department director Shuhaily Zain.
