Law and institutional reform minister Azalina Othman Said said the papers will be presented by religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar, home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and women, family and community development minister Nancy Shukri, Bernama reported.
She said Na’im will be presenting on the faith (akidah) aspect, Saifuddin will talk on the legal offences, while Nancy will focus on the assistance provided for those affected.
Azalina said the papers will be debated by MPs after they had been tabled.
“This is very important because in social media comments, there are some saying that the government is ‘overreacting’ through its actions,” she was quoted as saying.
“Parliament is the best platform for MPs, as the representatives of the people, to discuss opinions on this issue.”
In early September, police raided welfare homes that the authorities linked to GISBH and rescued 402 children, some of whom were allegedly sodomised and coached to sexually assault others.
Since then, more than 600 children have been rescued and over 400 people arrested.
