PETALING JAYA: Chinese tech company Huawei has expressed an intention to invest in smart city technology in Labuan, says federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
Zaliha said her ministry will also hold talks with other China-based technology conglomerates, such as Tencent, BYD and Baidu, to find other avenues of collaboration.
“It is hoped that this visit will bear fruit and attract more potential companies to invest either in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya or Labuan,” said the minister, who is on a six-day work trip to China.
Zaliha will be visiting Hangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen to explore possible smart city cooperation and technology investments in Malaysia. In Shanghai, the visit will focus on a twin-city link-up with Putrajaya.
