Manjung police chief Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the incident happened at about 3.08am and nine petrol bombs were hurled towards the house, causing a car and a motorcycle to catch fire.
He said that police received a report at 9.36am from the victim, a 25-year-old male employee of a quarry company, Bernama reported.
“Early investigations found all three suspects were riding in a Toyota Altis and wore masks,” he said in a statement.
Hasbullah said that further investigations at the location also found five sheets of paper with messages written in Chinese outside the victim’s house, warning him to settle his debt.
“The victim, however, denied taking a loan from any unlicensed moneylender or having any enemies,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code.
Hasbullah urged members of the public who have information on the incident to come forward and contact investigating officer Amir Hafiz Rosli at 011-24057360 or the Manjung police headquarters at 05-6886222.
