PETALING JAYA:
An unemployed man, featured in a video that has gone viral for allegedly hurling verbal abuse at a police officer, pleaded not guilty in the George Town magistrates’ court to insulting the modesty of a person.

Goh Weng Keong, 25, made the plea after the charge was read by a court interpreter in Hokkien before magistrate Nadratun Naim Saidi today.

Kosmo reported that Goh was charged with insulting the modesty of Nik Faizal Nik Long, 40, by hurling vulgarities at him in front of the bus stop along Jalan Thean Teik, Air Itam, at 6.45pm on Wednesday.

He was charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years, or a fine, or both, if convicted.

Goh was unrepresented, while the prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor M Darrshini, who asked the court to set bail at RM9,000 with the additional condition that the accused not disturb the prosecution witnesses.

The court then allowed bail at RM8,000 with one surety and set Nov 14 for case mention.

Earlier, a three-minute video clip went viral on WhatsApp, showing Goh hurling vulgarities at a traffic policeman after being issued a summons.
